New Jersey Payroll Tax Registration - Required Departments

NJ Department of Treasury Division of Revenue and Enterprise Services

  • Note - New Jersey's site is unusual as it does not require a username and password creation.

New Jersey Department of Labor

  • Register with the Department of Revenue and Enterprise Services first.
  • Then, after first payroll, register with the DOL via email (eastatus@dol.nj.gov). Include FEIN, employee name, date of hire, date payroll exceeded $1,000.

Is Registration With the Secretary of State Required?

Not required if a company's only in-state presence is a remote employee.
